Quick check

Today i drove past the block to have a look to see if anything was happening. I knew nothing would have happened cause they need to do bricks before anything else.  I'm a hopeful person and I just cant help checking out the block. So yeah nothing has happened... just the same unfinished brick-less house waiting for the brickies...

I did take some photos from across the street which gives a better view of the house.

I drove by the block today and all that seems to have happened is all the left over frames and rubbish have been cleared away.. which is really good cause now the land looks better and not like a rubbish dump 

Got terrible news this afternoon from our SS saying that he cant get any brickies and nothing will happen for 5 week!!!! 5 WEEEKS! That's such a LONG time for no work to happen!! Its very disappointing!  we went with a big builder because we thought problems like this would not occur. Being a company we thought they would have a lot of connection and contacts for all tradies, but its seems like that's not the case... 

That's more than a month with nothing happening! That's just ridiculous! They cant ALL be booked in for jobs..can they?

Been a while...

I know its been's a while since I blogged but not much has happened this week especially it being Easter and a lot of public holidays here and there.

The internal plumbing and gas pipes have been connected up and .... the BRICKS are here! We got some batches of our mild steel brick and Mowbray Blue split bricks. Its very exciting to finally to get to the brick stage in the building process. 

But last time we got an update from our SS he was saying he was looking for a bricklayer so hopefully he's found one who can start this week!

Waiting game..

We got an email from our SS outlining the run-down for the next week or so. 
So far today there will be some plumbing work done and the site will be cleared. Not sure what's been done but when I checked this morning around 11 nothing seemed different... 

Coming Tuesday our SS said that brick will be delivered but he still needs to find bricklayers cause of overload in work.. so we might have our brick next week but no one to lay them... and next week is a short week so I doubt anything will really happen :(  so as I predicted this week and next week have been wasted.. 

Hopefully when brick gets started they go all out and get it done! If only...

Next Stage

Frames are officially over! We are ready for the next stage in the building process but unfortunately prep for it will take a bit of time. This includes pipe work and clearing the site for bricks to be delivered. Guess how long it will take..?  2 WEEKS! This is what we've been told anyways... We can get lucky and it may start earlier...but most of the time we're not! 

Today nothing happened on the block except some old soil which has been cleared of the block. Evidence of work was noticed by the tire marks... They have also put some film on the windows so they don't get scratched and damaged during the building process. 

So it seems like brick will not start for another 2 weeks...

Frames Day 9 & 10 - Final day...?

Yesterday I went to check out the block in the morning since I'm on holidays and they had the structure for the garage happening and more frames were being installed for the roof. Also the front window installed above the door had been installed. 

I didn't get a chance to check it out later that day but was told by my husband that all the windows were done. This morning  I went to check it out and YES - all the windows are done! The house is starting to take shape! Its very exciting! Some windows look smaller than anticipated and others look bigger...Today could have been possibly the final day of frame work...

Today when I went to the block there was a guy putting white paint like stuff on the windows. I think this is so that cement or anything doesn't get on the windows during brick work. 

The weather is looking good so far and hopefully it holds up. The next couple of days will be plumbing and next week will be to get the site prepared and cleaned for the bricks. 

Frames Day 8 - Close yet so far..

Today they have finished major part of the frames and the whole house is coming together. But there is still a bit of work for the roof frames to be finished off and the window is part of the frame work category which is yet to be installed. 
The frames will be completed next week and since its a short week the week after only some plumbing work will be done and the site prepared for brick. 

So brick work is a couple of weeks away :( Now, for brick work the weather HAS to be good! Sprinkling just wont cut it! 

Frames Day 7 - Unexpected

The weather has been horrible today with constant drizzle and heavy rain at times.. for a second I feel like I'm the weather reporter.. but work getting done depends on the weather and recently the weather has been terrible...

While I was driving over to see the block it was raining and I knew there was no point checking but I'm glad I did, because they were putting up the frames to the first floor and the structure of the full house is coming together in its skeletal form! I don't know how much they got done before they left but hopefully quiet a bit. The rook frames are on site as well so i hope that will go up soon. 

Tomorrow is also forecast for rain but if its only a little bit and then they might work through it.. Otherwise we need to wait for Monday to come around and guess what the weather forecast for Monday...? RAIN!! :(

Frames Day 6 - No rain...No work?

Today we were excited about having all the first floor frames on site and weather being half decent. However we were very disappointed to find out this afternoon that no one had been on site and there was no work done :( It has been 2 days with no rain and no work! Very frustrating! 

They are scheduled to do plumbing rough-in on Friday and if it needs the first floor finished it is going to be pushed back to next week. 

Hopefully they are able to go hard and finish of the first floor before Friday but highly unlikely. 

Frames Day 3, 4, 5 - No Progress

Today there was a little bit of rain at work but not sure how the weather held up near the block, but no work was done today.
I went for a drive after work and saw that there were a lot of frames which were on the block. We know that it wasn't there around midday so maybe they were unable to do work due to delivery not being made...

Hopefully the weather holds up tomorrow and since there are a lot of frames work needs to start on the first. It will be very exciting to see the first floor! 

Frames Day 2 - Ground Floor Finished

Last Friday they finished the ground floor! we didn't get to see it till Sunday due to being extremely busy over the weekend but it was so exciting to get to see the ground floor in a skeleton layout! 

We could see each of the rooms and the spacing and it was amazing!

Frames Day 1 - Unexpected Surprise

I knew nothing was going to happen today but I couldn't resist swinging by the block to see if we were going to be lucky. I was very surprised to see that the living room and the 5th bedroom frames were up! They said nothing would get started, the earliest being Friday and we knew nothing would happen on Friday, especially since it was going to rain.. but work on frames have already started today!

Tomorrow the weather says scattered showers. Hopefully they will scatter in the afternoon so some work gets done tomorrow too. Hopefully we will have frames done by Tuesday!

Today after work I took a swing by our place and the ground floor frames have arrived. There is also a bit of scaffolding which has been set up. 

Termite control mesh has been put so at least some work has been done today. Not sure if they have finished the termite control. If they have, then nothing will be done till Monday. 

We also met our site supervisor early this morning. It was good to put a name to a face. He said that most likely the frames will get started on Monday. The carpenters have been flat out due to the wet weather last week. 

We are also aware that its going to be raining all day Friday so the best we can hope for is that Mondays weather is good.
